Traveling into Downtown Norfolk for

5th Annual Book in the Park

There are multiple ways to get into downtown Norfolk to enjoy the Books in the Park event:

By Light Rail: The Tide is up and running and TowneBank Fountain Park is just steps away from the Macarthur Square Station Stop.  

The Tide light rail operates Monday through Thursday 6:00AM to 11:00PM, Friday and Saturday 6:00AM to 12:00 Midnight, and Sunday 11:00AM to 9:00PM.  Plan ahead and purchase $3.00 tickets online at www.gohrt.com or use Ticket Vending Machines located at each station. There are 11 stations total, and free parking at all 4 park-and-ride locations. Town Point Park is located 2.5 blocks south of MacArthur Square station. By Ferry: The Elizabeth River ferry runs every 30 minutes 7 days per week. There is one stop in Norfolk at Waterside, and two stops in Portsmouth - at High Street and at North Landing. Monday through Thursday service starts at 7:00AM and ends at 10:00PM, with the last ferry leaving Waterside at 9:45PM. Friday service is 7:00AM to Midnight, with the last ferry leaving Waterside at 11:45PM. Saturday service is 10:00AM to Midnight with the last ferry leaving Waterside at 11:45PM. Sunday service is 10:00AM to 10:00PM with the last ferry leaving Waterside at 9:45PM.  Schedules are subject to change based on weather or other events.

The "Loose Cannon" Water Taxi operates between the Norfolk and Portsmouth Downtown waterfronts Fridays and Saturdays as well as for special events. The fare is $5 for adults and $3 for children. Service is seasonal please call 757.439.8294 for additional information.

By Car: Town Point Park is located on the downtown Norfolk Waterfront adjacent to the Waterside Festival Marketplace on Waterside Drive.

From Interstate 64, exit onto Interstate 264 West toward Downtown Norfolk. Get into the left lane and take exit #9 onto Waterside Drive. Pass the Waterside Festival Marketplace, and the Park is on your left hand side just before Nauticus, the National Maritime Center.

Parking:  For easy access to TowneBank Fountain Park, there are 3 garages to use. All of these garages will be charging $5.00 upon entry starting at noon on Saturday, September 15, 2012 for Books in the Park.

Waterside Parking Garage: located on the corner of Waterside Drive and Atlantic Ave, the entrance is located on Atlantic Ave.

Town Point Parking Garage: located on teh corner of W Main Street and Boush Street, the entrance is located on W Main Street.

Main Street Parking Garage: located on the corner of W Main Street and Atlantic Ave, the entrance is located on Atlantic Ave.
